Exodus 20:8-11 … Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.
Numbers 15:32-36 … And while the children of Israel were in the wilderness, they found a man that gathered sticks upon the sabbath day. And they that found him gathering sticks brought him unto Moses and Aaron, and unto all the congregation. And they put him in ward, because it was not declared what should be done to him. And the LORD said unto Moses, The man shall be surely put to death: all the congregation shall stone him with stones without the camp. And all the congregation brought him without the camp, and stoned him with stones, and he died; as the LORD commanded Moses.
Matthew 12:8 … For the Son of man is Lord even of the sabbath day. No longer must we keep the Sabbath holy, but we must keep all seven days holy. Within the four Gospels, whenever the term ‘sabbath’ was used in the presence of Jesus, Jesus took a negative side, a sign things would be changing.
Matthew 12:11:12 … And he said unto them, What man shall there be among you, that shall have one sheep, and if it fall into a pit on the sabbath day, will he not lay hold on it, and lift it out? How much then is a man better than a sheep? Wherefore it is lawful to do well on the sabbath days.
From the stoning of a disobedient man picking up sticks to the approval of taking care of your worldly possessions, the law of God pertaining to the sabbath has been revoked.
A TRUTH: If God had not killed the sabbath, liken unto the Israelite picking up sticks, He most assuredly would have had to kill all of us too. Today the new law states our reasonable service is to be holy seven days a week.
I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. Romans 12:1-2.
