I Corinthians 1:27 … But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty;.
We all know the story of the prodigal son and baffling it may be unless we merge together a few additional Scriptures, then we might see what and who Jesus seeks out and who He does not seek.
The prodigal was a winner! A foolish thing of the world. He took everything he ever had and publicly squandered it on anything and everything called waste, ignorance, foolishness and sin. By worldly standards the prodigal was ignorant, foolish and was an open and visible sinner but low and behold it was his foolishness, his disgrace, his brokenness, his open to the world’s sin that trampled upon his pride until he was brought down to humility and meekness. And it was this and this alone that brought him to his sanity or right mind with God ... Luke 15:17, And when he came to himself, ... Then he repented and God forgave and accepted THE NEW MAN, ONE OF THE FATHER'S FEW.
Mark 2:17 … I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.
The elder brother was the rock of society. No foolishness in him as he was prudent, wise and well respected in the community and rightfully so by the world’s standards. However, by the word of God the elder brother was a loser. Au contraire to the world is Jesus.
The story of these two brothers offers Believers a wonderful revelation into the heart and soul of God and our world as we can view firsthand the mandatory lowliness or brokenness or humility God requires upon His few. Pride is the sin of all sins, followed closely by envy, gluttony, lust, anger, greed and sloth. These seven deadly sins of the flesh create worldly elder brothers or the antichrist and they fill our worldly churches in masses and are staunch opposes of God's few.
Come on people! Come on churches! WAKEUP! When looking for a minister would you choose the ‘spiritual’ choice God chose with a scoundrel like the prodigal. No, No, No! You would choose the elder brother. How is this proven? Simple. The elder brother is always chosen to lead the people in our fleshly unholy unsanctified unrighteous ungodly worldly antichrist churches, and lead you they do and will, directly into the fires of hell.
Typical qualifications for an unholy minister: Beautiful to look at helps. Charismatic weighs in heavy! A wonderful speaker. Well educated in the community. Has the perfect family. No divorces here. One who has let no one down. Yes, this is the wisdom of the wise and mighty elder brothers. Deadly deathly fleshly wisdom of the world to be exact. Worldly organizations will always follow worldly policies. Worldly policy ranks or judges individuals on such as popularity, education, family and credit scores.
The family that prays together may not always stay together.
Matthew 10:34-39 … Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword. For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law. And a man's foes shall be they of his own household. He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me. He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it.
Consider the 'chosen' disciples of Jesus, the foolish, the weak and the poor. There were no big shots from the established church interested, only a few labors like Jesus Himself. THE NOBODY'S IN THE EYES OF THE WORLD! The unimportant of the world. Those born into our world dirt poor. Again, like Jesus, Himself, our example to follow.
Matthew 7:14 ... Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it. With rare exception it is only these few, the elect, who have little and will quickly throw away their meager life here so they might have a rich eternal life by following the Savior of our world. Three years of labor by Jesus produced only a small group of one hundred and twenty people. Do the math, the elder brothers makes up the masses.
Matthew 5:3 ... Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Only a few will ever believe Matthew 7:14. 600,000 men crossed the Red Sea on dry ground, but only two crossed over Jordan ... and few there be that find it.
A Little Borrowed Colt
Twas no golden chariot our lowly Master chose that day,
no white steeds with heads held high bursting through the crowded way.
The Children of God Do Not Love the World
1 John 2:15-17 ... Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.
1 John 3:6-9 ... Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him. Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous. He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil. Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.
Qualification: Coming to an awaking in a pig pen is not likely to happen to many. However, whatever method our Shepherd prefers to put upon any of His sheep or few is His prerogative alone. The bottom line for every Believer will be death to the flesh. The call to take up our cross and follow Him bears an ugly and deathly curse. Acquiring holiness is a commandment written plainly and clearly in the Scriptures, and it requires many years in a deathly pig pen, it's a heart and mind thing. Missing the law is missing holiness! It is this and this alone that drives our worldly churches to declare sinners are not under the law.
Romans 8:10 ... And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. Holiness matters.
THE KJV ... The Prodigal Son
Mathew 15:11-32 ... And he said, A certain man had two sons: And the younger of them said to his father, Father, give me the portion of goods that falleth to me. And he divided unto them his living. And not many days after the younger son gathered all together, and took his journey into a far country, and there wasted his substance with riotous living. And when he had spent all, there arose a mighty famine in that land; and he began to be in want. And he went and joined himself to a citizen of that country; and he sent him into his fields to feed swine. And he would fain have filled his belly with the husks that the swine did eat: and no man gave unto him. And when he came to himself, he said, How many hired servants of my father's have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger! I will arise and go to my father, and will say unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and before thee, And am no more worthy to be called thy son: make me as one of thy hired servants. And he arose, and came to his father. But when he was yet a great way off, his father saw him, and had compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him. And the son said unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and in thy sight, and am no more worthy to be called thy son. But the father said to his servants, Bring forth the best robe, and put it on him; and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet: And bring hither the fatted calf, and kill it; and let us eat, and be merry: For this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found. And they began to be merry. Now his elder son was in the field: and as he came and drew nigh to the house, he heard musick and dancing. And he called one of the servants, and asked what these things meant. And he said unto him, Thy brother is come; and thy father hath killed the fatted calf, because he hath received him safe and sound. And he was angry, and would not go in: therefore came his father out, and intreated him. And he answering said to his father, Lo, these many years do I serve thee, neither transgressed I at any time thy commandment: and yet thou never gavest me a kid, that I might make merry with my friends: But as soon as this thy son was come, which hath devoured thy living with harlots, thou hast killed for him the fatted calf. And he said unto him, Son, thou art ever with me, and all that I have is thine. It was meet that we should make merry, and be glad: for this thy brother was dead, and is alive again; and was lost, and is found.
